pull the lead off of the oil sender unit, turn the car on and ground the lead to see if the sender unit is working. If you ground it with the car on and get no light I would think it was the bulb, so then take a working bulb like maybe your turn signal or something that you know shines and try it in the oil light socket and ground it again w/ the ignition in an ON position.
In the older cars you could just replace the bulbs, in the newer ones the whole thing is a unit.
