Flushing the complete system seems to be the best insurance with the extra cost for fluid not being too much. I just changed the front shock oil on my wife 250cc Yamaha/route 66 cycle. Rode for a short drive on bumpy roads. Drain the shock oil out for a second time. Wow! The second flush looked almost as dark as the original oil. Now the oil checks out to be clean on the second fill after another bumpy ride. Thank's JoeK on reminding that a flush is the correct/better way to go when changing fluids, or at the least, always change "Most" fluids when hot (caution) allowing sediment/particals to flow.
