Is the ONLY fluid to use in the B-W 35/37 Autoboxes the C900 has. Nothing marked Dexron, Mercon, etc. should be used, even for a short time.
The fluids are incompatible, and transmission damage will result if you use Dexron or the like in the B-W transmission.
It's not so much the viscosity, but there are various friction modifiers in the different fluids that may deteriorate the friction materials in the transmissions clutches or bands. The fluids are matched to the properties of these materials.
Just about everybody makes a Type F fluid, including Mobil, Valvoline, Chevron/Texaco (Havoline), Castrol, Citgo, etc. You may have to dig for it, or - gasp! - ask at the counter, as it has become considerably less common in recent years. ALmost invariably they will have "TYPE F" in large letters on the bottle.
