A little background...

1994 Commemorative Edition
85K miles
Garrett T3/T4 turbo
431 red-top injectors
Red box apc
Stock intercooler with 10" 1000cfm pull fan
K&N cone filter
3.0bar FPR
NA intake cam
'85 Turbo exhaust cam
Ported/polished stock exhaust manifold
Ported/polished 2.0 head with Somender-Singh grooves
2.5" exhaust, no cat
JSP Stage II EPROM

Last fall I blew an oil seal on the SD turbo (again). I ended up putting the car to bed for the winter. Last week I rebuilt the turbo with a new chra. I took it out for a spin. I got the usual white cloud of smoke you get when you first run a car that's been sitting for 6 months. The rebuilt turbo is boosting fine now.

Now my problems... The car runs oddly, at idle. Idle is steady at 1000rpms, but I'm not getting a steady putt, putt, putt, putt like you get with a four-banger. It's kind of off beat. It almost sounds like the cam timing is off a link. If I give it some gas, it sounds fine. It also drives fine until I hit around 10lbs of boost when I'm getting on it. Then I get a studder and a loss of power--like you get with a knocking engine. The car has new NGK plugs and Bougicords, I swapped the MAF with a known good one, checked for vac leaks, swapped AIC valves, checked all the connections, set ignition timing, tried everything else I could think of. When idling, the exhaust has a sputter every 6th putt or so. My a/f meter blinks a lean condition in sync with it. Bad injector maybe? Scratching my head on this one. Looking for some input...
