My 87 900 turbo is due for smog testing in a few days. For the past two weeks I've been watching the voltage numbers obtained from the test-plug over on the fenderwell by the power-steering resevoir.

The numbers are now consistently waving between 0-13 volts at idle.

I found my AMM to be mal-adjusted. After dialing in the adjustment screw until the test number started sweeping between 0-13, the system seems to be working.

The number drops down and stays at .73 when the throttle opens. The number starts to cycle again about 2 seconds after the throttle plate returns to rest position.

Is that number supposed to cycle at all when the engine is under load or higher revs? My last two tests were terminally lean with high NOX numbers (2400+ needs to be 740).

Is it still indicating too lean with this simple test?
