The rr beam axle is not as preloaded as a front spring. If the car is raised & resting on a jackstand located on the jacking point, the spring is already extended most of the way. This of course means the rr wheels are removed. Anyway simply place your hydraulic floor jack under the point where the absorber attaches to the beam axle. This will allow a gradual lowering of the beam on the side where the absorber is to be removed. Hope this helps & Larry does not mind!
