I rebuilt a 16v PS pump a long time ago. It's pretty easy to do, overall.
AFAIK, the 16v pump is the same as the 8v pump, except the 8v pump comes inside a nice reservoir that the 16v has no room for, so you get the external reservoir.
The most important thing you must know about rebuilding it is that to take it apart, you need a vise. A Hydraulic press or arbor press ***might*** work in a pinch, but you'll have far more control with a bench vise.
After you take off the pulley (you'll need to borrow or rent a puller), you need to place the pump in the vise, with the shaft against one of the jaw faces, and the back of the pump against the other face. You compress the pump slightly, just enough to get the snap-ring out of the cover, and then SLOWLY open the vise. If you don't do this, you run the risk of one of the internal parts flying about the room, potentially never to be found, and potentially injuring someone...
All you are doing is replacing seals. If there is any really significant wear inside, time for a new pump...
