Odd shifting is often due to dirty fluid impeding governor action.
I'm far less charitable than the others here. likely naught wrong with the currency you used, was there?
Black fluid after a year is Serious stuff. It getting dirty because of "not cleaning out the System" is hard to believe. Even the kid at the Jiffy Lube knows about that pitfall. These trans boxes Do not usually need adjustments beyond initial setting of the system pressure via the kickdown cable (it's the 'adjuster' and THE reason one should Never Dick with it without a pressure gauge and the knowledge to understand it's readings )and when they do need adjustements it's as a stopgap measure to eke a few last miles out. ie: Bands are approx 1mm thick, Just how much wear adjustment do you think is possible?
