you will need to set the tension on the top when you staple the rear below the aluminum trim strip. be sure to do this or it will looks like an unironed dress shirt... there are saab parts to do this, however you can approximate the spacer with a socket, just put the locking pin from the top into the socket, and if you have a 1/2 drive socket put a short bolt thread in it and then into the mount hole above the windshield. the idea is that you are fully extending the frame as though it was latched, however you are spacing it back about an inch while you staple the material in place. then when you as done with the staples you can open the top a bit and remove the spacer stuff and close the top. it should be taut as before, nice and smooth without any wrinkles.
ALSO! be sure and take MANY MANY MANY pictures as you remove your old top (do more than you think you need, and then do some more - document everything), there are SEVERAL overlaps and cable runs and you need to get them all back the same way to keep the water out and the fun in...
