tranmission removal Posted by Karl [Email] (#161) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Karl) on Sat, 26 Sep 2009 18:17:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Well, What an adventure I had today. This all started last weekend when I pulled an 8v and 5 speed for a car. The seller said that the transmission was good the 8v blew a head gasket. Anyway, I started to work on seperating the tranny from the engine. I come to find my Haynes manual missing and my wife just went out of town. Ya, see seems to believe my stuff is junk and should be stuffed out of site. I proceeded to go forward with the tranny seperation. I'm a newbee to this process. Got all the bolts out and was trying to seperate the clutch. I could not get it, the thing just stayed together. I went on line checked saabnet to see what write ups there were regarding this tranny removal. I found information and came accross a shortcut, cutting the clutch cylinder in half. I should have looked for more information. I grabbed my Dewalt and proceeded to go through 6 blades and burned out the saw. I feel real smart right now. What I forgot to do was remove the input shaft from the clutch assembly. I almost made it 1/2 way through the shaft. Just thought some of you guys may find this amuzing.
