First off, the kit:
- 1/2 drive sockets
- a piece of all-thread that will fit through the sockets and the bushing.
- a handfull of nuts, and a few washers and fender-washers for the all-thread
- I used a piece of copper sheet rolled around the allthread to make up the diameter difference between the thread and the I.D. of the bushing, but this is really optional.
At one end of the all-thread, place two of the nuts and jam them together, with washers big enough to keep it from going through the center of the bushing, but not much larger, because you need to be able to pull it through the bracket without pinching the new bushing. Then you need to choose a socket that fits the bracket (so you can pull the bushing through).
So then you have jammed nuts -> washer(s) -> bushing -> bracket -> socket -> fender washer(s) -> single nut -> pair of jammed nuts.
So you can do all the tightening from one end: one wrench (or vice) on one of the jammed nuts, and a wrench on the single nut.
This works for removal and replacement in pretty much the same setup. Don't forget the dish soap.
