1979-1993 & 94 Conv [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
Yesterday GF and I are in my Dodge PU as it's raining like crazy and the 94 vert's in the garage with top down, the 93 vert is under cover on side pad, and other 3 Saabs are at my place. Sitting in left lane waiting for the turn arrow, she goes "Look, Look!I said a little edgy, "I'm watching the light". Then I saw it, through the pounding rain, leave the stop sign on the side road; a light blue 900 Classic Hatchback. I mean like to see a 900 here is as rare as unchanging weather in Kentucky (or as Mark recently informed me of the 93 Aero he found in Australia) as rare as rocking horse doo doo (here I have paraphrased). Until seeing the blue one I know of only 2 900 C's here besides mine, and one is sitting behind Domino's in same spot for 3-4 years, and Drew owns the white vert at the golf course. So of course I bypass the bank I was going to and follow this car to Wendys. Lucky for me he was in the outside lane of the double drive through. I pull up along side and he looks up and I motion for him to roll down the pass side window. He's trying to order, but I have his attention. So I go park the Dodge and walk back to the Hatchbacks drivers side. I politely wait till he's done ordering. "Where did you get it"? How long have you had it?" "It's really good looking" said the crazy man standing in the rain. In brief I learned it was gotten from a friend, after the driver got a divorce, but that he was going to sell it in about a month.
I couldn't tell if my salvanating could be seen through the rain pouring down my face, but I said call me first after he put my # into his blackberry. I watched him drive away, then as I went through the bank drive through I saw where he went and parked. Later that day his car was still there. Soon very soon, maybe even today, I will try not to drive there, but; I already know I will.I have to check it out more. Was there rust? Did not see any. The body damage seemed limited to, two small dings that I have already had fixed by paintless dent removal. It was an auto box 2.1 but if the interior I saw was real and not covers, it looked real good. Partly with sadness and gladness, I may have to change my future board name to Saab Stalker. Let me know if it's already being used. I am one Saab sick puppy.
