Small crack in turbo

I was about to rebuild a turbo and I noticed 2 very small hairline cracks in the cast iron housing, on the edge of the wastegate opening. Does anyone know if this common? One mechanic told me that it was not critical... but I hate to continue and install, and not know for sure if this is bound for failure... Any thoughts/words of wisdom???
Thanks.
