Will a bad slave cylinder always leak?

Tough to tell if the fluid on the ground is from a bad slave cylinder, or from me bleeding it trying to get operational again, but if a slave is bad, do they ALWAYS leak fluid?
I'm having an issue on my 1991, where I can bleed it and get decent pedal, but that pedal feel is only for 1 or 2 pumps at best. Then it goes back to the floor and stays. The lines are good, and I see no evidence of leaking anywhere except for where I've bled the slave and there's fluid on the ground.
Looking for some troubleshooting advice on whether the slave, or the clutch master may be the culprit.
If the slave is indeed bad, I can only imagine the war I am going to have with removing it when I can't use the slave to compress the fingers on the pressure plate.......ugh.
