SPG should be 5 speed so not conversion needed there. If the donor car is a five speed and really has 74,000 miles on it... I'd consider just putting the entire lump in. If the donor engine is an automatic then split it from the transmission and put the motor on your transmission. it's just labor to do it, pull your engine, set in on a box or a furniture mover with casters (get it up in the car some for easier access), keep the cherry picker attached, pull all of the bolts between the engine and transmission, BEFORE you do that get a cardboard box and about 1 foot but 8 inches or so (larger is ok but not needed) tape it closed, draw (large) the outline of the gasket and note the flywheel end and the crank end, poke holes in the box where the bolts go, put bolts in holes as you remove them, side to side is different (also lable UP and DOWN on the sides), don't forget the nut and bolt at the ends. take the shaft out of the front of the transmission!!! remove the clutch, pull the engine up in the air, remove the flywheel. remove the two bolts that hold the oil pickup tube and remove it. Move the engine somewhere out of the way and set it down on a board or piece of plywood.

pickup the donor engine and basically do the same thing but read up on how to get the flex plate aligned to pull the engine, and then with the engine up in the air... clean the surface of the engine and that transmission from above, SWAP THE OIL PICKUP TUBE (if this was on an automatic), do the locite 518 thing, put the metal gasket down, more 518, roll the transmission under the engine and then set the engine down, having a buddy to push/pull is handy here. put the bolts and nut back in the same places and continue...
