A bit of a story, but please bear with me....

I just spent about $300.00 on a cat, O2 sensor and header pipe today online (11/15/09) because emissions test is coming up and it was a real pain getting it to pass two years ago...high Nox. I ordered the header pipe because there was a small hole in the weld on the cat end. I ordered the cat & o2 sensor, because I just want it to pass first time!

Later...after ordering all that stuff, I discovered that a vacuum hose, the lower one on the white canister on the passenger side behind the wheel well had come off. I had already replaced many other hoses and fittings. Could that have been the problem passing emissions two years ago (note: this car is only driven 50 miles per year, so it could have been off 2 years ago easily)? Would that hose being off create a high NOX level?

Then, today...I noticed that my oil light is on. Could that be 2 year old oil? I am going to change it. What weight should I use if I do not drive it much? I have been using 10W-30 since I bought the car new in 1993. I did notice that there is oil on the passenger side of the engine toward the front...can't really tell exactly where the leak is coming from.

Could that hole in the header pipe just in front of the cat have been the problem with the emissions 2 years ago? The vacuum hose on the white canister being off? Both?

What are the possibilities for the oil light being on?

1993 900S - 115,000 miles. Most miles in first 7 years (highway miles) then a few hundred miles a year since 1999-2000.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

Thank you!
