ignition switch / key cylinder / gear box cover removal

I have a 91 Turbo. I am trying to get the gear box cover off so I can replace the key cylinder and ignition switch. I have removed the shifter and the three triangle nuts. It appears that you have to unscrew two downward-facing Torx screws to separate the cover from the white plastic bottom piece to free the cover completely. Any ideas on loosening these screws with the limited clearance available?
Thanks!
