you can tune it to go more into the red and I'm surprised it's not going there some now. when properly working it should peak and then drop back about a needles width or two. you should be running premium fuel. you should check that the base boost is set properly (do a search here, lots of information on how to), and of course your car should be in good tune.
as mentioned, on the LH2.2 there is a fuel pump cutoff that is tune by a sensor above the drivers left foot, but if *that* cuts in you will absolutely know it, it's like getting slapped in the back of the head. You may also have issues with those hoses that have come loose, however you should hear lots of vacuum noise from that area if you do.
