As for "ATF".....all my other 3 Saab's I've had in the past were manual and were using motor oils in the tranny(which I've added DR Detroit treatments,that did help the non friction quite a bit).....so in 900 automatics they would use standard auto-fluid(Ford type F)?

As for the conversion,did call a few places today in Canada=125k=600$cnd or in the U.S=600/900$u.s..with labor and conversion kit=2300$U.S....which is quite alot.......so wise advise James ride 'till it breaks and in the meantime look out for rusted out older banggers laying around.Aint so many classics Saabs around Quebec...whoever have some,keep them or sell them at rediculious price......here its more Volvo's and BMW's(i had a couple Volvo's recently 850t..currently have a '92 740sw from San Francisco=first winter....these are tanks too......but never the same bliss in driving!!)

There again the older lady(63y) that I'm buying it from is the original owner since '93 and has always maintained it top notch..never winter driven(no rust whatsoever) her and her husband are much aware and did what was to be done on this beauty.....still is that the tranny is a weakness.....soon find out!!
