I think I went through 3 sets of calipers in 3 years once. The original ones seized (one side failed + the other starting to go so replaced both). Those failed within about 9 months, and the 3rd pair didn't last much longer (actually might have been just 1 side the last time). All 3 times rebuilts were used (seems nothing else was available really and that was like 7 years ago), first job at Saab dealer, last couple at an indy... latest ones have lasted alright... not sure what was making them stick. Had the e-brake looked at the second failure...
All of that to say, it might be a moderately common problem. Saabnutt's comments are interesting + I will pay attention to this next time I look. I'll have a bunch more brake line work in my future anyway...
