condition, how warm, many things. Considering just how much work doing a complete R&R on an entire motor (i seem to be doing this for fun now!)is,and how tough these bottom ends are i say buy the recon head and get it done. Take some real care over condition of block surface, and to not nick the gasket upon sitting the head. definately have help on that part of the reassembly. some use an old bolt with head cut off to locate the head, but i think that with one or two friends helping, the chain, and gasket can be located properly without damage. Timing chain:rotate motor several times, check timing again. check again. check again (you get the picture). Nothing worse than cam timing being off one tooth and running like garbage (you'll get bad #'s also, then ditch the car). Good luck.
