Replaced the clutch master cylinder (started by trying to rebuild it, see my other posting). Would like to share the experience. The car is an 89 900T.
1. The interior work can be done without removing the knee bolster or the footwell air duct. Just remove the driver's seat and do the inside bolts lying on your back.
2. The engine compartment work can be done without removing anything, anything at all. Was tempted to remove either the alternator or the brake vacuum booster. Glad that did not do either. It is tight, but doable. The hardest part, the part that needs infinite patience is re-attaching the hydraulic line. To get the thread to take the first bite is very trying.
3. The bleeding is a piece of cake! (after a very frustrating bleeding on a 9000T) I followed CMyles' "reverse bleeding" (see his post dated Dec 13th, 2009. I am sure that it has been posted before too), straight forward, no drama at all. Thanks CMyles, everything you say is golden. But, did make one revision. The inside diameter of the vinyl hose needs to be 1/4" for my car ('89). I am sure that the 5/16" hose works for some other years.
