I was amazed at this design also! Someone posted awhile back about another brand of car that uses this same design. I do remember when I worked on air-cooled VW's. One had a seized pilot bearing and wouldn't let the motor to be pulled out. I had to remove the starter to be able to spray copious amount of PB-Blaster around the bearing location. What a mess. Hopefully TZ problem will be easier to remove the shaft if the noise has just started. It a part of the complete clutch replacement/repair thats overlooked. Good luck!
