Clutch R&R update #4, GOT IT OUT!

The car is an 89 900T, 160K.
Got the clutch assmbly out! finally! Did it in two parts. Removed the slave cylinder first by itself. Very tight, but did it in less than 5 minutes! The clutch removal became nothing after that.
Guess what went wrong with the clutch? One of the springs on the clutch disc broke! Out of the six main springs, one of the pair of the longest broke into 4 pieces! Three of them fell out and perhaps one or more of of them was wedged between the flywheel and the clutch disc (not on the contact surfaces, which were free of scratches or scoring. Must have been caught in the central recess, amongst the flywheel bolts.) causing the scratching noise on the one hand and hard of shifting on the other - the clutch disc was never totally free. Wonder what caused the broken springs; they look very robust.
In addition, one of three small springs (closer to the center) is also broken, no pieces had fallen out yet, but it is broken. Probably broke by the broken pieces of the bigger spring.
The pilot bearing is fine, rotates freely, smoothly without the slightest "catch".
How do I "read" the conditions of various wear pieces?
Where is the cluch shaft seal? is it mounted on the primary gear case?
How do I tell if the slave cylinder can be rebuilt? or should I replace it as a matter of good practice?
Is replacing the rear main seal, at this stage, a "must do"?
What is the "minimal to do list"?
It feels great having removed the clutch assembly.
Thanks
