I had the same thing happen to me as do most people with a turbo. I had a machinist friend make me a jig so I could center it properly to drill the broken stud. You really have only one shot at drilling the stud because if you mess it up you will really have a problem. I nearly screwed the whole thing up by trying to drill it out with the head on the car. Even with the jig I failed to get it centered properly. Long of the short. Pull the head off and take it to a machine shop. Well worth the time and the small amount they will charge to save your head. When you install the new studs put some anti-seize on the studs (can get it at any good auto parts store) so you can get them out if you need to after another 20 years. Also, dont use lock nuts like everyone says as they "turn" the stud when you are tightening the nut to secure the manifold. Use stainless lock washers and stainless nuts. Hope this helps :)
