So I ended up removing the skid plate and lowering the motor onto a jackstand after jacking the entire car up, loosening pass side motor mount and hot lead retainers. Removing the fans I sheared off a couple of the screw heads - would've just swapped in a different radiator but loosening the lower hose requires removing driver's side fan anyway ... so just stuck with the brass radiator and will retap screw holes before the weather gets hot ... Realigning the skid plate was a PITA, there was a wacky Allen head bold in one rear slot that I replaced and used longer bolts up front for easier threading... - what I did discover, that which baffles me - is that the wire from the coil to the cap still had the original plastic sheathing around it - 20 years with the original coil wire to the cap ?
And the cap was caked with crap on the outside so changed that too. Putting in new NGK's in the morning - These things puzzle me because the PO has service records from the past 10 years but some things were apparently neglected...
What does concern me is exhaust escaping from the manifold at #4 just below the distributor - figure it's the exhaust gasket - but doesn't seem to affect anything too much
