My 1990 900 Turbo Automatic converitble had started idling a bit a strange over the last few days. It would be fine in the morning when cold, but by the time I got off the freeway to go to work (8.5 mile drive) it would start trying to die, idling low and bouncing around. As soon as I hit the gas, it would be fine.
Had some tech friends of mine (not Saab guys unfortunately) look at it this evening, they were looking for a vaccuum leak and could not find one, although the did not look too hard. Put a new set of plugs and plug wires in it just for fun, it ran a bit stronger on the freeway on the way home but no other noticable difference.
After the new plugs and wires, after getting off the freeway it still seemed to be hunting for the idle a little bit, but it started trending towards the high side more. But again, this was somewhat erratic.
Then I pull into my driveway when I get home, it dies, and that's it. Won't restart. Won't even fire, it just cranks.
The cap and rotor and Air Idle Control Valve are all about 8 months old. The AIC valve went bad at that time, and this weird idle doesn't feel the same way as that one did.
Fuel pump? PCV valve? Mother of all vacuum leaks? I have no idea.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....
