tz,
Little dents on the edge of the bore shouldn't be a problem. If there is raised metal that would nick the circumference of the seal it should be smoothed off. The rear main seal will pop out much more easily than the clutch shaft seal once you get a grip on it, just try to keep track of the spring. Take your time when installing the new one, it's a little harder to install correctly. You can guide the inner lip onto the end of the crank with a small smooth rounded tool if needed. Something like a paper clip usually works. Just be sure that the tool (if you find that you need it) is smooth, nicking the lip makes an old, leaky seal of a new one instantly.
