Sudden & heavy tail pipe smoke...drive it home?

Hello everyone, long time no post. Life's become pretty demanding. I lurk from time to time, but the shop is in good hands ;)

So, the wife is an hour away & just called me all frantic....LOTS of smoke coming out of the tail pipe. Temp normal, no lights illuminated, no funny noises & car otherwise running fine.

Said smoke reported to be "grayish". I've no idea what it smells like bc she was in a major rush & late for an important meeting. I'll know more as soon as my frazzled spouse can get back to the car & pop the hood.

Vehicle particulars:

87' 900t - 5spd - 104k - junkyard acquisition w/95k in 2007

Recently/1k ago; new water pump, NTC sensor, thermo (good used one) & coolant + 3/4 btl Bars 'Rhizex' pellets. Note...new WP needed due to extensive, week long/250mi flush w/x4 consecutive fills of that Prestone citrus stuff. This after draining out what could best be described as "sewage".

Other service mostly up to date. Bosch plugs coming out soon in favor of NGK. Oil changed two wks ago - trans oil (10w/30) 4k ago, both checked regularly. Fresh brakes & suspension stuff last year. Car has been running perfectly & is driven 70mi daily (hwy), returning 30mpg.

More confessions; Steering rack leak mitigated w/Lucas goo (friggin' stiff when cold). The last x4 tanks of gas were treated w/3.5oz 2-cycle oil (older, non TCW3) [in lieu of MMO]...each time AFTER getting home, mixed into 1/2g in a jerry can. Trans case cracked at the eng oil drain (repaired by PO's mech w/some sort of sturdy epoxy) - no outward signs of falling apart at last OC two wks ago.

Ok, I'm no dope & generally know what's what. Unfortunately, getting to the car to assess the situation isn't practical.

Some possibilities I've considered:

~ Big PS fluid leak onto the front pipe, mimicking tail pipe smoke (I'm hoping)
~ 2-cycle oil pooled up in the filter (no problems over two months of use)
~ Turbo blow by (no previous indication of this)
~ Blown head gasket (no warning signs of this either)
~ No motor oil (possible failure of repaired oil drain crack - norm temp/no oil pres light)
~ An inflatable mattress wrapped around the exhaust?!?!?

If an under hood look see reveals nothing abnormal...would you drive it 50mi home? Thoughts please...
