So, you have tradeoffs here....as we all do when trying to get the car to do something the original designers had no vision of....the 55s will afford more protection for the rims, and they "fill" out the wheel well more in proportion than the 50s. Since you have a way to get the car elevation to go up and down, then you could adjust the height to the 50s to make it suck those smaller tires into the wheel wells without contacting the SPG flares.
If the roads you use are rather good ( let me know where the heck that is ) without high curbs and potholes, then I would say the 50s would be OK if you don't mind the enormous gap between the OD of the tire and the arch. BUT, with the flares, that is not as big an issue.

OH -- please weigh your wheel ( without the tire ) on a semi accurate scale and let us know what it comes in at. Thanks in advance for that.
