You should be able to find a plate with gearbox model # and serial number. Have a look at the link and photo below for '85 and '93 samples. After that you may want to go see t w i n s a a b s (or f i x m y s a a b and add . c o m after that name - remove those spaces between letters, a complete link is prohibited here on TSN since TSN Master Scott P doesn't like guys who don't like to participate in TSN promotion) website to check when that gearbox model was in production. Or post those numbers here and local brainiacs (Simon, CMyles, Larry W or probably me) should be able to do that breakdown for you.

P.S.
Btw for late versions (e.g. M91+ or such) GM5xxxx stands for hydraulic from mount while GM4xxxx stands for solid mount. Know what? One can just simply swap the front (chain) cover that holds that mount and GM5/4 will become solid/hydro-mounted gearbox. So don't be that much keen on those ID's.
