1988 900S, 16V, 5 spd, 177K miles

I prefer:
Castrol GTX (conventional)
Valvoline Maxxlife (blend)
Pennzoil Fully Synthetic (synthetic)
Mobil 1 (synthetic)

I run Castrol GTX 10W-30 in my 900S usually with a Fram Toughguard oil filter. I ran Castrol in my 1975 Saab 99LE back in the 80's and was very happy with the results.

I used Valvoline Maxlife in my 1998 F150. That had nearly 150K miles on it when I sold it recently after owning it for 10 years. I ran Pennzoil Fully Synthetic(a motor oil that is tested to reduce oil sludge) in my wife's 1999 Dodge 2.7 Intrepid(a motor with a horrible reputation for oil sludging itself to death) starting at 50K miles. When a valve spring broke, I was amazed at how clean the engine was with 107K miles on it so it looks to me like it does what Pennzoil claims.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic 15W-50 in my 1967 Chevy 327 marine engine that was rebuilt in 1997. This oil is very expensive, over $6 quart, but I'm very pleased with the results. I'm glad that it only has to be changed once per year since it holds 7 quarts!!!
