Suddenly running poorly

I was on the final 4 miles of a 40 mile round trip dive when my 93 900 turbo started running very roughly. I was driving a fellow Saaber and wanted to show him the performance of the car. Just past the halfway point of the trip I was on some open highway and I decided to open it up. I got to just past 100 mph and then it seemed to hit a wall. Not usual for this car as it is usually quite easy to exceed this speed.
The car only has 82K, and I only use premium. The muffler is in very bad shape and has many holes in it. I didn't think that the worn exhaust should negatively affect the turbo's performance. Boost seems normal, high yellow. I checked all the vacuum lines and the turbo piping, everything seems tight.
I also pulled the air filter and it was fine. I took off the distributor cap and the rotor had a little bit of black on the edge so I cleaned it off with a screwdriver. The sparkplugs were a little worn but seemed to be gaped properly. One thing was weird, the plug closest to the radiator seemed to have a foreign object in the gap, kind of a build up of fouling but I'm not sure. I did clean it off and reinstall. None of the cylinders had any signs of coolant, no smoke or anything coming from the tail pipe. The coolant reservior was at its normal fullness.
Anything else I should check? Just seems weird the way it happened while driving, with no dramatic event, -like blowing a turbo pipe.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks in advance.
