By way of encouragement to others, thought i would fill everone in on my little restoration project.

Started with a very sad looking SiS ('88 black cvt with spg wheels and cladding). It had been neglected beyond belief. Engine/trans was a mess (overheated, plus it was an auto). Last year i did a 5 speed conversion, and cleaned up the body some. Just got 2 parts cars in the last couple of months, with lots of good parts, so...

Interior:
Replaced dash pad (a few tiny cracks)
replaced speedo consol (110,000 and nice orange needles)
Replaced knee bolster (with the full bottom in grey)
replaced the shift boot with leather one
installed the 3 bolts holding shifter housing down (PITA, didn'tbother when i did the conversion)
Installed nice steering wheel
reglued the door inserts

Front:
Prepped the engine/trans unit from '90t-HG, Front seal, alt bushing, HB, all belts, replaced idler pulley, exhaust gasket, WG housing (had stripped bolt), shiny dist (with no oil leak!). This 'lump' had a complete clutch kit/slave/line/master install just a few thousand miles ago, so kept that all intact.
Good drive shafts with new boots ready to go.
Removed front panel, and everything up front to get access to rust. Lots of surface rust-treating it right now.
received used SPG springs (proper ones from '88)-they will go in with new bilsteins

Replaced/checked all bushings up front

Will install entire fron panel fron '89t parts car with complete a/c system including condenser, dryer, evaporator and compressor

Roof:
Found a back panel for roof, NOS, genuine saab, $95 fleabay-installed in one day, including tightening the roof up-looks awesome! (mine had 18" seperation form glass)

Rear:
Just yesterday pulled entire back axel (rusty, with bad bushings), exhaust (franken-exhaust, suspect cat), and fuel filter (couldn't get it off without the access-rusted on!), installed exhaust from '90t (saab muffler, everything looks good)and new FF.

Will be drilling holes in replacement tailgate for spoiler (from '89t 4 door), and polishing the replacement black hood (also from'89, with 'turbo' badges)

Will also be installing complete set of rotors/pads, SAS rear spring spacers, Redline MTL with new side cover gaskets, and new tires.

Have some bumpers to work on (paint)

My plan is to make a 'close to original' SiS with the addition of SPG stuff as it should have been from the start.

Oh, and it has to cost less than $1000!

Pictures when it starts looking like a car again!
