Getting ready to swap a 1990 16v turbo from a convertible into a 1988 16v turbo convertible. Both are Autos with the Tranny attached so I hope to keep it simple. Any advice on that subject is appreciated. I'm replacing as many of the seals and misc stuff that I can while it's out of the car.
My main problem is that the engine I'm taking out has messed up wiring on the top of the distributor and we tried to fix it but really needed to just replace the distributor pickup that has the wires and plug attached (Red, Black, Yellow or + O - ). So I get the new engine home and of course the little plug on the top of the distributor (Red, Black, Yellow) wires is hanging on with just the red wire. I think I can fix the other wires and hook them back on somehow but should I even try this since the plug is disconnected from the distributor. The top broke off from the part that holds it on. The rebuild kit is so expensive I would rather just patch it up for now instead of the rebuild but let me know what you think? Thanks.
