Tire poll; do 205/60's rub when carrying weight?

I know a lot about tires. This is a size/clearance question. I've always stuck w/the ubiquitous 195/60HR15, but want lower rpms on the hwy. I don't want to go 195/65 because they "just don't look right" & there are a lot fewer choices in that size. I infrequently carry a load, but when I do, it's usually a ridiculous sight...occasionally combined w/x2 motorcycles or some heavy junk on my trailer.
I've resisted putting a hitch on an 87' 900t bc it's slated to receive a set of Intrax springs I've got kicking around...any clearance issues likely w/205/60's here...how about 205/55's?
I'm concerned w/rubbing the rear wheel wells & the front spring pivots. I've found that some of the c900's in my family are more prone to this than others. I've attributed this as possibly due to screwy camber settings, or worn bushings...though everything seems ok on all vehicles - go figure.
Btw, I know the stock 5.5" rims are theoretically too narrow for a 205....your thoughts are welcome on that issue as well.
Oh, I'm outfitting two or three c900's w/General Altimax HP's...is this still the tire de' jour? Anyone unhappy w/that tire?
