Okay, so I've done a lot of searching on the board but have yet to find anything similar to my particular circumstances, so here goes:
'87 SPG
When I turn the key to ON (engine not running), my solenoid is rapidly clicking. This DOES go away upon pressing the brake pedal. From what I have gathered so far, it seems as though this suggests the pressure transducer under the dash is the most likely culprit (though some say it could also mean the APC box is no good, I believe).
I also have an issue with the headlights: the low beams will sometimes cut out on me (sometimes if I hit a bump or something on the road this can either turn them off or back on). Note: my headlight switch is loose, so the whole thing turns clockwise when turning on the headlights. I checked the headlight relay, and the plastic around one of the contacts is melted. I will work to fix this right away, which I suspect will fix the headlight issue (if not also changing the headlight switch or at least fixing it with electrical tape or something).
The interesting thing is that when the ignition is ON (again, engine not running) and the solenoid is clicking away, if I jiggle the headlight switch I can reduce or stop the solenoid chatter. It seems to most reduce it if I turn the low beams on. If it's not completely stopped when low beams are on but reduced, I can usually stop it completely when putting high beams on.
Leads me to believe I have some weird electrical short or something? I'm not the best with electrical circuits so maybe someone can give me some ideas? Ground problem maybe? If so, what do the ground connections on the car look like? I've got a Bentley and Haynes which I believe shows where they are but I don't really know what to look for.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to give as much detail as possible.
