I do things the hard way. I pull the 2 heater core hoses just for operating room. Then release the adjusting bolt at the top of the alternator. Push the alternator toward the block and hold in place with the adjustor bolt. This gives you pretty good access to the 2 6mm allen bolts under the alternator. Make sure you're fully seated in the bolt with your wrench so you don't round the socket. I usually am replacing the bracket bushings so I pull both bolts. Then remove the adjusting bolt so the alternator swings toward the fender. The upper bracket bolt can be reached with a 12mm box. At this point I loosen the 2 6mm allen bolts holding the AC compressor so it will tilt up and let you slide the bracket out. Others only remove 2 bracket bolts and pivot the alternator so the long horizontal bolt can be removed.
