There's two things going on:
1)I am pretty sure the disc will only lay flat against the flywheel in one orientation. If you try it the other way 'round, it can't. Dry fit the disc to the flywheel, and you'll know. But yes, the large springs part fits inside the pressure plate ring.
2) Saab discs for the 900 turbo (maybe 16v & later, but definitely turbo), also have an additional, small, disc with springs at the center, on the flywheel side of the disc, AND you need the special bolts to hold the flywheel on that have shorter heads so the little disc & springs doesn't get ripped off the big disc.
