Unwise to re-install a high mileage crankshaft pulley?

I just replaced the "front" crank seal & oil pump O-ring....along w/the red MTC polyurethane alternator bushings I put in only last year (wicked pissed about that - WHY do site sponsors continue to sell these?!??).
Anyway, I failed to obtain a new harmmonic balancer/crankshaft pulley as a precaution.....& really wish I had. I'm all ready to button everything back up, but the rubber dampener on old pulley looks worrysome. The rubber on the firewall side looks alright, but on the engine side it's brittle & chunking off to the plane of the hub & pulley (from heat I guess). The rubber beneath the brittle layer is still pliable & easily indented w/moderate pressure from a screwdriver....in other words, it seems fine. HOWEVER, this is in all likelihood a 23yr old HB w/260k on it. I need to get this car operational NOW (waiting till Tues for parts is a big problem), but don't want to flush the 5+ hrs I spent bent over the fender when 6mo from now the pulley slides off the hub...with my luck, right into the timing cover.
What qualifies as "ok" when reusing an old part like this?
How about the LS motor mount? It's still good, but I've got great access to it now. Still looks like a PIA though.
Thoughts please.
