Simon is close, but there's more Posted by Notnoel [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: trans w/n shift into 1st or2nd, Simon S, Mon, 19 Jul 2010 09:11:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
He's correct about the hole in the shifter assembly inside (just in front of of the gearshift), but there's also another hole to line up on the tranny (under the car).
Full procedure is to loosen the couple clamp (under the car), line up the hole inside and use a phillips screwdriver or punch to keep the gearshift in a static position. Then crawl back underneath the car and you will note that there is a small (3/16") hole in the gear selector shaft(in front of the coupler clamp. It should line up with a guide hole on the back of differential plate. If it doesn't, you move the selector manually until it does (it should move without much effort, even if your hands are greasy. I use a bent nail to line this up. When both guide holes are line up and pinned, tighten the clamp up, pull the pins/screwdriver out, and your linkage should be perfectly adjusted.
