rebending skid plate

This started off as just replacing the front and right side motor mounts, but it has gotten worse.
So I was going to remove the skid plate off my '89 Turbo, and I found that it was bent to the degree that it was contacting the tranny and the lip to which it mounts in the front had been bent enough to tear the welds for about 1/2 an inch. Am thinking about rebending the lip and plate, but am not sure how best to deal with it. Have somebody reweld it? I have been looking for a good pic that shows how the skid plate and lip should look, so that I can regain some of the protection that was once there. There seems to be just a bit of surface rust where the welds broke.
Any suggestions?
