Well, I haven't worked much on that secret formula, meine Kapitän, but I've discovered a secret place where old gremlins can restore (evaporate) chrome and amalgam on both plastic and metal surfaces. Once you're in Moskau turn south and make about 120 miles süden on M2 autobahn until Tula-stadt, gerr Landy. The last time I worked with them they charged me smth like $30 per reflector. They first do evaporation and then varnish it over and it takes them about 2-3 days to complete a single order.
They give one year warranty though with my experience I can say that metal reflectors have been running 3 years w/o any issues (with Phillips 55/60W H4 bulbs) while plastic ones have only 1.5 yr on their clocks, but still look serh gut.

If you find about the same shop there in the New World then note that it's highly recommended to clean the reflectors first (remove the old coating) before sending your units there - most probably they won't bother themself with such things but it's really... not a must but pretty worth it. I do not recommend using any mech treatment (e.g. grinding or such) but some widely available chemistry that will eat old coating but will not hurt the unit body.
