If I understood the problem statement... it will not start sometimes, and yet on the times that it does start... it runs well. So I would bypass any performance items (fuel, fuel injectors, AIC, AMM, FBI or the CIA too) and concentrate on why it doesn't start.
Does it actually crank, aka turn over? not sure from the writeup.
If it does crank, and yet not "catch" or "fire" I like to get a can of carb or brake cleaner, and pull one of the vacuum lines on the tope of the intake plenum when this problem happens, and put the plastic applicator in the vacuum line hole and spray to a count of 10. put the line back, leave the hood open, and crank... if it cranks and the coughs and starts only to die... you have a fuel problem. fuel pump may be intermitent, other items. If it does NOT sound like it's actually starting you don't have spark. We are looking for a trasitive issue, so a bad fuse is out, as are other items. If you suspect that it's a bad ignition amplfier and this happens when it's HOT, get a can of that computer air the sell everywhere, if you turn the can top side down and spray, it's COLD and spray this on the suspect item that you believe is failing only when hot. freeze it. then try to start. if it starts, that is very likely your component.
Does the car run well when it runs? does it crank but not fire? Let us know. thanks!
