failing tachometers Posted by DougM [Email] (#211) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DougM) on Sun, 8 Aug 2010 18:09:15 In Reply to: Can someone guide me to the G8 ground?, blue87, Sat, 7 Aug 2010 20:15:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 88 convertible has had a history of failed instrument components. The odometer/speedometer was replaced years ago, and the replacement failed about five years ago. It first started reading faster than I was really going, then the needle eventually started banging the stop until the needle fell off. Now what's left just spins around in circles as I drive. I've been relying on the tach to gauge my speed, but now it just started dropping to zero as I drive, or bounces around randomly before it settles down again. If I smack on the tach while it's resting, it will spring into action again. I just think the tach itself is failing, and not a ground issue.
