I'd check the tension on the A/C belts first, then,
make sure the second cooling fan is running when
the A/C is operational. Then, proceed to test the low pressure switch
anti-frost switch, and the coolant temp switch. There's also the expansion valve to consider, doesn't sound like that tho.
Did you get a new evaporator? If it was left open for more than a few minutes, it might be faulty - especially in the recent humidity.
And check and see if the drain hose is
working - getting a puddle of water after known good operation in
the driveway?
The low press switch disengages if pressure is too low,
the antifrost switch if the temp at the evap drops too low, and the
coolant temp switch if the coolant temp is too high.
These checks are covered in sec 854 of Bentley - I get the impression that these parts were reused.
