Sorry for the rant (although it felt good at the time). I've made a wee bit of progress today-- Roger D helped me to correctly attach wiring connections at the ignition switch and I found a faulty connection (yellow wire) at the starter. The car now turns over readily but sadly does not fire-- at all.

I'm waiting for a helper to arrive so I can check for spark but expect it will be there. How do I know? No signs of fuel supply. There's no smell of gasoline after cranking. I've disconnected the return line from the FPR and there is no residual fuel in the line. Jumpering between 27 and 30 makes the fuel pump spin. Bentley guides that the problem may be with the relay under the passenger side trim panel but I find that hard to believe since nothing has been disturbed in there in the course of resurrection and the motor ran just fine before this mission began.

I'll followup with status of spark but I suspect I may have (yet another) misconnected connection. That is, while I hear the ABS system engage on turning the key to start, I don't hear the fuel pump on cranking. Again, I need a helper to crank while I listen so I can't be sure about this fault but if so, what might be wrong? Searching the board I found a post suggesting that the wire associated with the O2 sensor needs to be connected so that the ECU sees ground and runs the fuel pump. I hadn't reconnected before but did so with no good effect. I checked the rotor, distributor, and firing order (plug wire placement at distributor), all seems well.

As always, any help is sincerely appreciated. I wouldn't have dreamt of trying this job without knowing I could turn to the SaabNet for help. If/when I get it done I will have to renew my membership!
