I don't know this with real certainty but I'd say that if you drain the system and refill it with PS fluid and then maybe do the same again after a while I don't think you'll see any damage. You can pretty well drain the rack by disconnecting the two lines and turning the steering wheel lock to lock a few times and draining the pump and reservoir just requires that gravity be on the job (with those hoses off). You can power up the pump very briefly and force some of the fluid out too. I've seen these cars run dry of PS fluid (briefly) without evident damage to any components.
