Trans shaft seal r/r

Had a clutch slave cylinder leak and while I had everything out, I wanted to replace the transmission shaft seal but that sucker doesn't want to come out. I've any number of prying devices, everything except the special tool of course. Any suggestions? Since I am past the point of no return (one side of the seal is definitely broken up), I'm open to buying the tool if necessary.
Thanks in advance.
