'93 900S. I experienced a sudden and nearly total loss of PS fluid over the weekend. Upon inspection (which required detaching the PS pump bracket from the block/head) I found that the supply line fitting had come loose. I put some thread sealant on it and reattached/tightened (a real PITA since it's filthy down there and there's little room to throw a wrench but I got it done). After installing mounting bolts and tensioning the belt (another PITA!) I filled the reservoir and all was well... until I found the black plastic/rubber bushing that should be in the lower mounting stud/bracket hole.
The bushing has a crack in it and I figured if I was going to disassemble to replace I would wait until I get a replacement. HOWEVER, there is no evidence that its absence is having any ill effect-- no rattle, no belt squeal, nada. I suppose that mounting the bracket without it might result in a bit more stress on the pump pulley and/or more rapid belt wear, but should I have more of a sense of urgency to get a replacement on or even reinstall the old one, cracked as it is? If not, I'll wait until the next time I have to place an order with one of the site sponsors and get it then...
